Né le 1er juin 1896 à BURLINGTON (Iowa, USA) de Jens Poulsen WIND(1854–1945) et de Kristin Jakobbine JOHANSEN-BRUN (1854-1935) il eut 4 frères. Pas de mariage ni d'enfant connu. Il travaillait comme fermier à HYDRO (Oklahoma, USA).

 

Born the june 1, 1896 in BURLINGTON (Iowa, USA) son of Jens Poulsen WIND (1854-1945) and Kristin Jokobbine JOHANSEN-BRUN (1854-1935), he had 4 brothers. No wedding and no child known. He was farmer in HYDRO (Oklahoma, USA).

 

Sa dernière unité connue est le 131e bataillon de mitrailleurs, compagnie A, de la 36e Division ("Arrow Head") où il était wagoner (en France c’est l’équivalent de conducteur). Son numéro d'identification était le 1 485 841.

 

His last known unit is the 131th machine gun battalion ,company A of 36th Division ("Arrow Head")  where he was wagoner. His serial number was 1 485 841. 


Il fut envoyé avec sa division en France en juillet 1918.

 

He was sent with his division to France in july 1918.

La 36e division participa à l’offensive Meuse-Argonne. Les 9 et 10 octobre, l’unité participa à un combat intense proche du village de Saint-Etienne. Après l’armistice, la division est envoyée à la 16e zone d’entrainement dont le point central est TONNERRE (Yonne, France), le régiment était à VALLIERES (Yonne, France).

 

The 36th division participated at Meuse-Argonne offensive. On October 9 and 10, the unit participated in an intense fight near the village of Saint-Etienne. After the armistice, the division is sent to the 16th training zone whose central point is TONNERRE (Yonne, France), the regiment was in VALLIERES  (Yonne, France).

 

Les archives de TONNERRE (Yonne, France) montre qu’il est mort le 17 février 1919 à l’hôpital de camp n°50 d’une gastro-entérite aiguë causée par un ascaris lumbricoides, complications d'une tuberculose chronique pulmonaire et tuberculose chronique rénale. Il est enterré à THIAUCOURT-REGNIEVILLE (Meurthe-et-Moselle, France) au cimetière américain de Saint Mihiel.

 

The TONNERRE archives (Yonne, France) shows that he died of gastroenteritis acute caused by ascaris lumbricoides complications tuberculosis. pulmonary chronic and tuberculosis renal chronic on february 17, 1919 at Camp Hospital No. 50. He is buried in THIAUCOURT-REGNIEVILLE (Meurthe-et-Moselle, France) at Saint Mihiel American Cemetery and Memorial.
