Son père était un antiquaire connu à Philadelphie et l'une de ses soeurs a poursuivi ses activités dans les années 1950. Son grand-père et certains de ses oncles étaient maçons, charpentiers et entrepreneurs en construction. La famille Wetherstine est arrivée à Philadelphie en provenance d'Allemagne lorsque la Pennsylvanie était encore une colonie anglaise en 1766 et qu'un certain nombre d'hommes de la famille ont servi dans la guerre d'indépendance. Sa mère était une descendante de David Rittenhouse, trésorier du nouvel État de Pennsylvanie pendant la Révolution, directeur du premier US Mint (organisme qui produit et met en circulation les pièces de monnaie des États-Unis) à Philadelphie, et ami et partenaire scientifique de Benjamin Franklin. La famille vivait dans une vieille partie de Philadelphie, Germantown

His father was a well-known antiques dealer in Philadelphia, and one of his sisters continued the business into the 1950's. His grandfather and some of his uncles were masons, carpenters, and building contractors. The Wetherstine family arrived in Philadelphia from Germany when Pennsylvania was still a colony of England in 1766 and a number of the men of the family served in the Revolutionary War. His mother was a descendant of David Rittenhouse, who served as treasurer of the newborn state of Pennsylvania during the Revolution, was Director of the first US Mint in Philadelphia, and a friend and scientific-partner of Benjamin Franklin. The family lived in an old section of Philadelphia, Germantown.

The 80th division participated at Somme battle, is deployed in Meuse-Argonne and participates in the battle of Saint-Mihiel. After the armistice, the division is sent to the 15th training zone whose central point is ANCY-LE-FRANC (Yonne, France).

 

Il est mort le 16 février 1919 de broncho pneumonie. Il est enterré à PHILADELPHIE (Pennsylvanie, USA) au cimetière « Ivy Hill Cemetery »

 

He died of broncho pneumonia the february 16, 1919. He is buried in PHILADELPHIA (Pennsylvania, USAand is buried at « Ivy Hill Cemetery »
