Né le 7 décembre 1893 à WADE (Mississippi, USA) fils de Joel Wilburn PARKER (1857-1897) et de Frances « Fannie » Victoria FURBY (1867-1951), il aura trois frères et deux sœurs : Hulda (1887-1951), Joel Levi (1889-1966), Ida (1891-1957), Rufus Washington (1892-1959) et Lewis (1899- ?) ; et deux demi-frères et une demie-sœur : James J BUSBY (1903-1981), Martha Victoria BUSBY (1905-2000) et Marvin BUSBY (1908-1957). Pas de mariage connu ni d’enfant. Il était ouvrier journalier dans la compagnie Vinegar Bend Lumber dans le Comté de GREENE (Mississippi, USA).

Physiquement, il était petit et de carrure moyenne, avec les yeux bleu foncé et cheveux marron foncé.

Physically, he was short and of medium build, with dark blue eyes and dark brown hair.

Le 4 octobre 1918, il embarque à bord du paquebot transatlantique ZEELAND de la White Star Line-Dominion, devenu le SS NORTHLAND, direction l’Europe en compagnie de son régiment qui était alors le 151e régiment d’infanterie pour un total de 1.225 personnes à bord.

La division fut envoyée en Europe en juillet 1918 et mène des opérations majeures lors de l'offensive Meuse-Argonne. Les 9 et 10 octobre, la division a participé à de violents combats près du village de Saint-Etienne. Suite à cette victoire, qui comprenait la capture de plusieurs centaines d'hommes et d'officiers de l'armée allemande, ainsi que de l'artillerie, l'unité lança un assaut près d'une zone connue sous le nom de "Forest Farm".

 

 

The division was sent to Europe in July 1918 and conducted major operations in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. On 9–10 October, the division participated in heavy combat near the village of St. Etienne. Malade, il décède de la fièvre typhoïde, le 29 décembre 1918. D’abord enterré à TONNERRE, son corps est exhumé pour le port de SAINT NAZAIRE le 20 octobre 1920 et y arrive le 2 novembre. Transféré 20 jours plus tard pour HOBOKEN (New Jersey, USA) à bord de l’USS WHEATON, il y arrive le 15 décembre et pour son dernier voyage du 29 décembre 1920 direction LUCEDALE (Mississippi, USA) où sa mère l’attend. Il est enterré à LUCEDALE (Texas, USA) au cimetière « Magnolia Garden Cemetery ».

 

Sick, he died of typhoid fever on December 29, 1918. First buried in TONNERRE, his body was exhumed for the port of SAINT NAZAIRE on October 20, 1920 and arrived there on November 2.
