Né le 14 juin 1892 à ZANESVILLE (Ohio, USA) fils de Gilbert Zebedee DAVIS (1849–1924) et de Nancy CREEKS (1856–1929), il aura trois frères et trois sœurs : Ida May (1877- ?), Walter Ogden (1879-1942), Dulton (1881-1930), George Gilbert (1884-1965), Carrie Lydia (1886-1948) et Helen Gertrude (1899-1970). Célibataire et sans enfant. Il travaillait comme opérateur d'image animé.
Physiquement, il était grand et mince, avec les yeux bleus et cheveux marron clair.

Physically he was tall and slender, with blue eyes and light brown hair.

He was incorporated in ZANESVILLE (Ohio, USA), on July 23, 1918 as private with the serial number 3,529,900 and was assigned to the 4th training battalion, 15th company, of the 158th depot brigade until August 10 when it joined the 334th Infantry Regiment, Company B.

On September 2, 1918, he embarked on board the RMS AQUITANIA, of the Cunard Line, in NEW YORK CITY (New York, USA), toward England, in the company of his regiment, a detachment of the 167th infantry, the 333rd infantry regiment, the 53rd base hospital and other units for a total of 6,073 people on board.
Créée en septembre 1917 au Camp Taylor (Kentucky, USA), elle reste en formation au Camp Taylor jusqu'en août 1918. Par la suite déployée en France en octobre 1918 pour servir de division de formation et d'entraînement pour les remplaçants, elle ne verra jamais le combat.
Created in September 1917 at Camp Taylor (Kentucky, USA), it remained in training at Camp Taylor until August 1918. Later deployed to France in October 1918 to serve as training division for replacements, it will never see the fight.
Comme beaucoup d’hommes, il est atteint de la grippe espagnole et décède officiellement de grippe et broncho-pneumonie, le 20 octobre 1918. D’abord enterré à CRAVANT, son corps est exhumé pour le port d’ANVERS (Belgique) le 5 janvier 1922 et y arrive le 16. Transféré 3 février 1922 pour HOBOKEN (New Jersey, USA) à bord de l’USS CANTIGNY, il y arrive le 14 février et pour son dernier voyage du 28 février au 2 mars direction ZANESVILLE (Ohio, USA) où son père l’attend. Il est enterré à ZANESVILLE (Ohio, USA) au cimetière « Greenwood Cemetery ».
Like many men, he was infected with the Spanish flu and officially died of influenza and broncho-pneumonia on October 20, 1918. First buried in CRAVANT, his body was exhumed for the port of ANTWERP (Belgium) on October 5 January 1922 and arrived there on February 16. Transferred on February 3, 1922 to HOBOKEN (New Jersey, USA) aboard the USS CANTIGNY, he arrived there on February 14 and for his last trip from February 28 to March 2 to ZANESVILLE (Ohio, USA) where his father is waiting for him. He is buried in ZANESVILLE (Ohio, USA) in the Greenwood Cemetery.
